Who We Are

How We Started

Our Experience Building for Fixed Budget

The solution is processes, technology and subcontractor development. We can build quality, features and details for insurance rates – I’ve always built very nice homes for much less than custom home contractors – but we have to be sophisticated. We use systems to incorporate homeowners customizations into the build. To keep the decisions out of the hands of the trades.

We are all shocked at the devastation one night of winds brought. But I am thrilled to be able to cap my professional journey applying a career of knowledge to the problem of rebuilding custom homes for what insurance companies will pay. My twins just turned ten years old and now, after the devastation, they will grow up with the experience of rebuilding a community. Maybe this will be the first summer they work regularly on a jobsite, maybe it will be your house. Maybe we’ll start an internship program so their friends can learn how to build, and rebuild a community. The energy in the community is already amazing and I can’t wait to really get started.

Meet Heyday

I’m Hardy Wronske, owner of Heyday Build and longtime Angelino. Since 2003, our company has built over 70 homes in Northeast LA, but at no time have we ever felt more vital to our city.  After the recent fires in Altadena left so many of our neighbors, friends and family displaced we understood that Heyday is uniquely qualified to help the rebuild effort. We have the building knowledge, experience, and skill-in this very area-to rebuild our community, so those affected by the fires can one day return to a beautiful well-crafted home. From consultation to lot clearing to build, we are here to serve you.

Leveraging 25 years homebuilding in NELA to solve the problem of building custom homes for insurance prices. Shortly after the fires, when I started learning about the insurance process from friends who have lost their homes, I realized this is a major problem that needs a solution beyond local custom builders, as insurors are not paying custom general contractor prices. So I started looking at applying larger homebuilder models to my 25 years of experience and network of subcontractors and consultants to a custom-home build.

Our Team

We’ve added insurance experts, customer service personnel, design and permitting partners, and an estimating team.

Hardy Wronske

Rebuild Director

Hardy understands the challenge of building the highest-value home on a fixed budget, drawing on 25 years of new construction experience and a Master’s in Real Estate Development from USC. He learned design and construction studying Naval Architecture at the University of Michigan College of Engineering.

An ethic of customer service and hard work began in middle school, spending summers on his father’s landscape crews in South Florida, where he also picked up Spanish. Early in his career, Hardy became a Project Manager for Astilleros Marco Chilena in Iquique, Chile, overseeing complex yacht and tuna boat retrofits, using his two languages to communicate between owners and shipyard workers – a skill valuable in Altadena.

Hardy met his wife at an architecture lecture he gave on his first building; today, her career as a Set Decorator and LA Conservancy Chair continues to sharpen his design eye. Away from work, Hardy spends time with his family, boating and trail running in the Channel Islands, the San Gabriels and the Pacific Northwest.

Our Mission

Heyday Build’s purpose is to be a connector—a conduit between those in need of a new home and the skilled tradespeople and consultants who can make that possible.

Our mission is to rebuild high quality homes after the devastating Eaton Fires, within insurance claim authorizations while also fostering business and career growth for our partners, subcontractors and employees.

By leveraging business practices and technologies—usually reserved for the scale of exurban neighborhood development—with our local homebuilding network, we create efficiencies that allow high quality construction for insurance rates, a positive customer experience and profitable jobs for the trades.
